AGT Communications hosts press-conference with Israel Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov A press conference on the future of Russian-Israel cooperation in the sphere of tourism tool place at the Interfax news agency central office on March 2010, with Israeli Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov attending.

Mr. Misezhnikov’s visit to Russia was timed to the end of his first year in office. Russia turned out to be the only country, he visited for the second time.

The Minister recalled that the cooperation with Russian colleagues had always been a priority for the Israel tourist sector. He also held talks with representatives of Russia’s leading tour operators, which resulted in the signing of a number of important cooperation deals.

To make trips to Israel more convenient for Russian tourists, air carriers increased the number of flights, including regular ones, and not only from Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also some other regional capitals. According to the Israel tourism ministry, 25% of Russians, visiting Israel are pilgrims. Half of Israel visitors would normally return there for the second time, and 67% more plan to go Israel in future.

“I would like to expand our cooperation even further,” the Israel Tourism Minister said. “Because tourism is a wonderful basis for the development of relations between our states and nations in all other spheres.”
