The Israel Government Tourist Office in Russia and CIS and the Foma magazine summed up the results of the contest of writers “Holy Land: Touch Faith.” The winners received awards in a ceremony at IGTO.

The organizers gave go ahead to the competition last November, suggesting that contenders should share their impressions of the Holy Land in the form of an essay. More than 50 entries were submitted, containing spotlights of trips to the Church of the Holy Sepulture, the Church of the Nativity, the bathing in the Jordan River, and the magnificent Divine Liturgy (Eucharistic Service) in Gefsimania.

The first prize – an eight-day guided tour of Israel’s holy shrines – went to Viktoria Balashova from Moscow, for her story “The Road.”

The second winner was Lyudmila Pertseva from Yekaterinburg with her “The Call of the Holy Land,”  while Alexei Vesnin from Nizhny Novgorod’s village of Mukhtolovo came third with his “Holy Land: Gospel Alive.” The second and third prize winner received special awards from IGTO, and a year-long subscription to the Foma magazine and books from the popular children series “Nastya and Nikita.”

The winning stories were posted on Foma’s website, while “The Road” that took the first prize was published in the March issue of the magazine.
